Richard Weinstein, photographer

Richard Weinstein’s career began as a passionate hobby at 13. Using a Russian-made Zenit 35mm camera he began capturing images in a unique and creative way in his native South Africa.

Richard Weinstein completed three years of full-time study at Pretoria Technikon, graduating with distinction and receiving the National Best Student of the Year Award. He completed his thesis with a documentary of Marabastad, South Africa’s first township, exhibiting 150 images and directing a 20-minute documentary shot on 16mm film.

After a four-year apprenticeship, Richard Weinstein opened his own studio in Johannesburg, and the following year exhibited a series of dye transfer impressions at Paper Place Gallery, supported by Polaroid and printed using Arches Aquarelle paper. Richard Weinstein emigrated to Australia in 1995 and now works as a commercial photographer based in Sydney.

His work concentrates on advertising commissions, but he is best known for his superb portraiture, having photographed Nelson Mandela, Malcolm Turnbull, and Mark Webber, among many others.

Mike Harbar, illustrator

English born Mike Harbar has been a professional freelance illustrator since 1990. He emigrated to Australia in 2000 and now operates his renowned Classic Lines Artist studio in Melbourne, illustrating for a broad range of loyal clients worldwide.

His specialties focus on transport – cars, motorcycles, motorsport, airplanes and luxury boats – but he is at home with architecture, portraiture, landscapes, technical manuals, patent drawings and product design.

Mike Harbar is a trained industrial designer and has a unique understanding of engineering principals and how they relate to his artistic output. This is apparent when inspecting the accuracy and attention to detail he can achieve by using the humble lead pencil and watercolour wash. He is also skilled in graphic design, printing and picture framing.

All of Mike Harbar’s artworks feature his trademark – a church spire hidden in the detail. Like Cuneo's mouse and Where's Wally? the spire adds a touch of intrigue to each work.
